In the heart of the Chianti Classico region, the estate at Cafaggio can trace its history back to 1408 with records indicating that by the late fifteenth century, the property belonged to the Benedictine monks of Siena before passing into the hands of various owners, including the famous Niccolini family from Florence.
The future of Cafaggio is to produce and promote itself as a niché quality focussed estate and partnerships with agronomist Ruggero Mazzilli and renowned Italian winemaker Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Caviola cement this position.
Cafaggio covers approximately 60 hectares, of which 30 are vineyards. Situated in the hamlet of Greve in Chianti, in Panzano, the estate is in the ‘Conca d’Oro’ (Golden basin), an area recognised as the finest zone for producing Chianti Classico.
Having followed the estate through the years, and celebrated many family occasions with their wines, Vinicon’s role in the UK is to build the presence of the Chianti Classico Riserva’s, including the single-vineyard wines of Basilica San Martino and the IGT Cabernet Sauvignon, Cortaccio.
